While most people hold their awards very close to their hearts, the same can not be said about Kanye West and now Gwyneth Paltrow. In 2020, Ye decided to post a video on social media of him peeing on a Grammy Award after a slew of tweets about “freeing the music industry from modern slavery.” Evidently, the rapper’s video was a little extreme. However, now the Iron Man actress has sent the internet into shock after her interview with Vogue.

When the world found out how Paltrow was using her 1999 Oscar Award, they lost their minds. She won the award for the film Shakespeare in Love, which a lot of people believed she did not deserve. But now, 24 years after one of her greatest achievements, the actress might have just proved the internet right. Paltrow sat down with Vogue to answer their 73 questions series and that was when it was revealed that she used her only Oscar as a doorstopper.

Although the interview went off without a hitch and gave fans a better look at her life, it left most of them baffled at the blatant disregard for her award. With the star branching out into various weird ventures before and after her divorce from Coldplay’s Chris Martin, it did not surprise fans that she could do something this bizarre. However, it did not sit right with them that the Goop founder thought so little of the prestigious award.

Just like any update about the popular actress, this too was met with mixed reactions from various social media users. But there was one common consensus. It was that Paltrow was going out of her way to try and look “edgy.”

Recently a fan page on X (formerly known as Twitter) revealed that Gwyneth Paltrow told Vogue that she uses her 1999 Academy Award as a doorstopper. The revelation came months after the star had been put under a legal trial for a 7-year-old incident and she also claimed that doorstopper “works perfectly.” However, social media users were not impressed with the star’s revelation. In fact, it might have played out the opposite of how she wanted it to, as social media users ended up labeling the star a try-hard.

Some social media users decided to go another way and say that she did not deserve the award to begin with. While they made their preferences clear, they had no remark on her behavior.

As always, there were a few users who decided humor was the way to go and cracked jokes at Paltrow’s expense.

While fans seem confused about how they should be feeling, one thing is certain; none of them were happy about how Gwyneth Paltrow treats her awards. Though it may have just been for clout, the star has had no response to give the internet as of yet.
