Hollywood has been on a roll to expand existing universes, and lately, much of the limelight has been towered on the critically acclaimed anime series Mobile Suit Gundam. With showbiz going headfirst into live-action, aiming to bring the narratives to a bigger cultural platform from the small to the bigger screens, Gundam’s live-action leap has been a highlight for geeks worldwide. After much speculation and anticipation, the Gundam movie has ultimately surfaced with the highly anticipated row of updates. Subsequently, fans cannot hold their horses any longer as excitement reaches a fever pitch for the forthcoming.

The Mobile Suit Gundam has ventured into various mediums, including anime and plastic model kits. But its next big step is its foray into live-action, which recently brought some interesting new updates. According to Oricon, a Japanese news site, the live-action revival of Mobile Suit Gundam is under development, with plans for the film finalized only recently. Legendary Entertainment and Bandai Namco Filmworks have joined forces for the flick’s deal with Jim Mickle on the director’s hot seat. 

Bandai Namco Filmworks is a subsidiary group of the Bandai Namco Group that amplifies the movies and shows to fuel the global popularity of the company’s brand. They have also announced the formulation of Bandai Namco Filmworks America, LLC, by April this year, which will serve as the new American part of their larger umbrella. As per reports, Gundam’s deal was contracted at the end of January and the news was only made public now.

Gundam is not the only beloved anime series venturing into the slippery slopes of live-action. However, instead of cynical skepticism, fans are taking a trip down memory lane this time around.
