However, the 40-year-old has so far only signed with Netflix for 2 Narnia films. 

Her focus once again has centered on the book, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, just like the earlier film franchise. Although with only two films in her arsenal, Gerwig might surprise fans and adapt one of the 5 stories that were left untold. So far, it has not been confirmed whether the franchise could continue without the Barbie director. However, with the right amount of success, it could be a possibility.

Ever since news broke that Greta Gerwig would be working on adaptations for The Chronicles of Narnia, fans have been losing their minds over what to expect. However, that did not stop Netflix’s CEO, Ted Sarandos, from teasing plans for the upcoming project.

He ended up revealing that the new versions might be more true to the books than ever before. The CEO also added that “it will be bigger and bolder” than the world fans may have imagined in their heads. While no official teasers or details have been dropped, the films have already garnered quite a huge following. However, everyone seems to be waiting on an update for when the project could be expected to drop.

When will Greta Gerwig’s Narnia reboot drop on Netflix?

Netflix may have acquired the rights to Narnia years ago, but it was not until recently that they brought on Greta Gerwig. With the director finally on board, fans expected updates to come rolling out. However, that has not been the case. Instead, it is only revealed that production for the first adaptation would begin in 2024, but no exact date has been revealed.

With one script done, another having to be written and rumors of actors already cast, filming for the project has been set to begin sometime this year. However, there have been speculations going around claiming that the Gerwig project could land on Netflix in October 2025.
