The Marvel Cinematic Universe has forever been the tapestry of dreams for Tinseltown stars. Yet, only those with cosmic luck have been able to align their starship to it. Though Marvel Studios has had its fair share of setbacks trying to do away with the post-Endgame curse at the box office, it never took a backseat in terms of recruiting Avengers they thought were able to save the day. As the MCU prepares to unleash a tidal wave of fresh faces and eagerly awaited returns, Finn Jones, the actor behind Iron Fist, threw his hat into the ring, voicing his fervent hope for a MCU comeback as the titular hero.

While Jones previously expressed his desire to rejoin the franchise, this latest plea was tinged with a sense of urgency.

After Netflix’s Iron Fist series was canceled in 2018, Finn Jones has time and again hoped for an MCU comeback as Iron Fist to breathe new life into the Marvel character. And now with all the Netflix Marvel shows landing at Disney+, Jones’ iteration becomes relevant again. Speaking at La Conve Monterrey, an anime convention in New Mexico, Jones pleaded with the audience, saying, “give me a f------ chance, man.”

Jones explained he is completely aware of the existing criticism surrounding Iron Fist and his casting in the series. Previously, Marvel geeks criticized the show for the inconsistent and exaggerated portrayal of Iron Fist. Moreover, critics were also not too welcoming of the weak action sequences and lack of visual aesthetics. However, filled with the iron desire of not backing down, Jones added, “I’m here and I’m ready, and I wanna prove people wrong.”

While there are Marvel actors who would like to keep their distance from the franchise, Finn Jones is not one of them, having rallied behind a comeback even previously.

Iron Fist star Finn Jones wanted to grow with the MCU character

In a conversation with The Nerd Shepherd at Heroes Dutch Comic-Con in the Netherlands last year, Finn Jones, who portrayed Danny Rand/Iron Fist in Netflix's Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Defenders, revealed that he wanted to return to the MCU. Jones explained he wanted a continuation for his character and also that he, himself, wanted to continue playing Iron Fist. “I think there’s still a lot of room for growth, and professionally, I’m at a point where I would like to continue to grow with Iron Fist,” he said.

Jones added he would like to join forces with Mike Colter again in a Heroes for Hires series. “I would love to see the chemistry between me and Mike again,” the actor mused. While Jones definitely sees a superhero future for Iron Fist in the MCU, it remains to be seen whether the higher-ups share the same sentiment. However, even with that layer conquered, it is time to see whether the fans will be just as interested, because in the superhero world, supervillains are not the only obstacles.
