“Gave me chills”- Fans in Shock by This New ‘Interstellar’ Theory Highlighting Christopher Nolan’s Depth of Craft

Interstellar is a movie that keeps delivering never-before-seen wonders with each viewing. Even though the movie has been around for a decade, it still holds up to this day, encroaching upon the viewer's life as they continue to brainstorm endless speculation about its science fiction elements. And with every new theory, Christopher Nolan’s intricate and multi-layered vision becomes even more striking. Now there is a new mind-bending theory that could turn everything one thought about the 2014 film on its head.

YouTuber and TikToker Alex, who runs the channel Starkverse, cooked up a theory by pointing out that Christopher Nolan used a few seconds of footage from Interstellar at two different points in the movie. The same footage was first shown at the beginning when Joseph Cooper dreams of his ship crashing, and then again when the team is approaching Miller’s planet. Given Nolan’s meticulous artistry, it is highly unlikely that this was just a fluke and was not done intentionally.

This theory proposes that Cooper might have actually died in the first shot, and everything that happens afterward was his journey through the afterlife, into the unknown. This makes sense, especially because from the moment Cooper miraculously survives entering a black hole, everything looks dreamlike. Alex also highlighted the crew’s frequent references to the “big sleep", a metaphor for death, and noted that no one greeted or acknowledged Cooper when he visited his daughter on her deathbed as if he was not even there.

This theory, filled with religious undertones, blown the minds of fans on social media.

Interstellar theory has left fans’ minds reeling

A beauty of Christopher Nolan’s work is that there is no one way of seeing or interpreting things. In fact, fans even find themselves debating their own take on the film’s ending. Some believe the ending was when Cooper sacrificed himself by plunging into the black hole, while others think it was his exploration of the tesseract through a process of predestination.  Now this new theory has given viewers a fresh perspective on the movie and has inspired them to revisit the film, Interstellar. "This sh*t just gave me chills", said a fan.

Meanwhile, many fans put forth counter arguments against the theory.
