Mother Monster mothering in meat for the VMA

A fashion runway that soon escalated to a controversial row, Lady Gaga sent shockwaves around the world with a dress made of raw beef. Expressing her bold denial of one of the US military’s mottos, Gaga wore a butchered attire that surprisingly even smelled like “raw meat,” she confessed to herself. However, with the intentions involved and the jaw-dropping intricate fashion, Time named it as the top fashion statement of 2010.

Selena Gomez in Subtle Blues for 2013 MTV 

Adding to the list of Iconic singers, Selena Gomez also once had an alluring dress out on for the MTV Awards. Back in August 2013, Gomez stunned in a long-sleeved figure-hugging navy cut dress. It had an exposed lace bustier revealing the corset underneath the navy longline accessorized further with silver pumps. 

The dress was evidently from Atelier Versace and so were her showers. She also kept her locks sleek style while adorning precious Lorraine Schwartz jewelry for the occasion. 

Rihanna in the Alexandre stretches

This is an icon who causes waves with each of her public appearances. Fans are often displeased with the looks of the Barbadian singer, however, some have left an immensely positive impact on her audience. It need not be the extravaganza of expensive Galas but if it is the MTV VMAs of 2016, we can only talk about the bars she has set high. The tab silk gown on the singer served as one of the most revered looks of the French grand fall-winter haute couture collection. 

With hair simply slicked back and a darker-than-ever lipstick shade, the singer made one of the most prominent appearances at the Award function. Or as Gen Z fan reactions would call it, she ate it all and left no crumbs behind. 

Doja Cat multipurpose chair dress 

Following the 2016 MTV VMA look that the singer admitted made her look like a worm, Doja Cat swore to look like something else for the 2021 ceremonies. For the MTV gala, the Kiss Me More singer wore a daring outfit that comprised furniture on her head with its edge tucked in her arm. The outfit might have left the internet in hysterics, but it clearly served the purpose of making an unforgettable mark. 

The accessory even turned out to be multipurpose as the star first wore it as a hat. And later used it as a seat on the stage as she performed before the audience. Following the daring look, she closed the ceremony with a bright orange humane hat, which she paired with a surreal pair of bird-feet pumps. 

Megan Fox as the showgirl crossed Roman Goddess 

The same year, another Hollywood bigwig that stole the show with a similar category ensemble was the American actress model and her long-time love interest, Machine Gun Kelly. The 2021 Gala witnessed the star walk on the carpet in countable sparkling raindrops and her stunning attitude. And oh, to be precise, she had the Champagne-colored see-through gown hugging her enviable figure.

Taylor Swift’s “naked” MTV VMA dress 

The music titan, Taylor Swift, currently sweeping off audiences with her record-breaking Eras Tour, once carved out her own niche with a bold yet dreamy attire for the VMAs. Stars often flaunt their see-throughs, but this was not any ordinary revealing attire. This was The Naked Dress of Back in 2021 MTV Awards, Taylor Swift’s Version, as Vogue called it. 

The Songstress donned a rhinestone etched high neck collar short hemline dress for the awards. The bright swipe of red on her lips with the sparkling gems over her towering figure left a mark in the pages of fashion history.

Nicki Minaj in 2022 MTV VMA Barbiecore 

The list would be left incomplete if it did not have the Queen of Bold Moves added to the limelight. Other artists have made their mark with chosen outlooks, but Minaj has done it right, sometimes excessively right, with all of Gala’s embellishments. Talking of the most recent, the Moment 4 Life rapper made yet another captivating appearance in a bedazzled pink corset with a high ponytail topping the look. 

Flashing her ample assets, she accessorized the loon with a kaleidoscope of jewels and gems matching with the fir. Long story short, the rapper literally rocked the pink Barbiecore even before it was a thing.
