Back in April this year, Jennifer Aniston sat down with Pop Sugar to promote her film Murder Mystery 2 with Adam Sandler. During her interview, she surprisingly ended up revealing what she had done with her first payment after joining the Friends cast. Although she seemed to now think of her “first big splurge” as a “25-year-old mistake,” the actress had spent it on a 280 SL Mercedes.
Aniston explained that it was a “little white” convertible that she loved. She even kept it for a long time, but she could hardly drive it. Instead, the star only ended up taking it out for a spin only twice after she bought it. When her co-star questioned her as to why she did not drive it, the 54-year-old said, “It was a lemon, and that’s why it had been sitting there.”
While it may not make sense to most, her reasoning might have more to do with the fact that the cast members did not make a lot during the first season of the show. However, later seasons had their problems.

Back when Friends began back in 1994, the cast of the show was not making a lot of money. With the future of the sitcom uncertain, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, and the rest of the cast made only $22,500 for each episode they shot. However, while they all saw a hike in the next season, two of the members were making more than the rest. It was the Ross and Rachel co-stars.
Once they found out about the difference in pay, the cast ended up banding together and demanding equal pay. It finally worked out for them and by the end of the series, the cast was making $1 million per episode. Although the pay gap might have caused issues, the group sticking together gave them the upper hand over the studio.
