‘Friends’ Sitcom Achieves a Rare Feat in the History of Comedy Shows Over Twenty Years After Its Closure

As Variety recently rolled out the list of 100 greatest television shows of all time, Friends took the 29th spot, marking its legacy in the sea of comedy shows that came on television. The outlet noted this series has such a charm over fans around the globe that they stream it even after decades of its closure. The new generation has grown attached to the group of six friends navigating life and careers.
While the group of friends found home in each other’s apartments, viewers found solace in watching their shenanigans, so much so that the last episode is still remembered to this day. Other shows that made it to the list include Twin Peaks, Game of Thrones, The Office, and the latest internet sensation Stranger Things.
While Friends has become one of the greatest shows, this is just another diamond in its treasure box of accolades.
How many awards did the comedy-drama win?

Throughout its run, Friends has received a staggering nomination of 62 Primetime Emmy awards. Among all those nods, the show bagged six awards. Lisa Kudrow, who played Pheobe Buffay, received an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 1998. Then in 2002, Jennifer Aniston took home Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Rachel Green.
The same year as Aniston, the series also picked up the Best Comedy Series win at the Emmys Awards. Bruce Willis and Christina Apple, the guest stars, bagged the Outstanding Guest Actor/Actress in a Comedy Series category, in 2000 and 2003, respectively. And now the show finally made a historic achievement getting a seat on the greatest shows of all time.
