‘Friends’ Matthew Perry, Despite Sharing His Personal Story, Felt It Was Impossible for Him to Read It

Recovering from something soul-breaking is extremely difficult for any human being. But what is more difficult for them is to talk about it afterward. The healing journey has its own twists and shocks. But to share it with others in order to help them makes them realize what they have been through. A journey like that was embarked on by the Friends star, Matthew Perry. The actor has shared his story of addiction in his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Things. However, it was not as easy for him as he makes it sound in his interviews.

Writing one’s thoughts is one of the therapeutic exercises. Therefore, whenever one writes down their thoughts, they feel a lot lighter. It organizes thoughts and provides clarity. During his January interview with Tom Power, the 53-year-old actor revealed his journey of writing and the aftermath of the same. Revisiting the overwhelming experiences of his life became extremely terrible for the 17 Again actor. After finishing the writing, he detached himself from his author persona and became a reader. While reading the book, the Canadian actor felt sorry for the person in the book. As soon as he realized it was him the book was about, Perry felt all the devastating feelings at the same time. To process those oozing emotions, the Numb star revealed, he had to move his laptop to the living room so that he could sleep in his room.
