Whenever an individual aspires to be someone, they have a role model they want to follow. There are many legendary actors who are inspiring actors and fans to be like them, like Arnold Schwarzenegger. But Matthew Perry, like many other Canadians, wanted to be like the legendary star that, incidentally, Ryan Reynolds also admirers. During his book tour for Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, the Friends star talked about many things, including the remarkable Canadian star who influenced him in his youth.

This actor was not just someone Perry liked, he was someone the actor wanted to be like. And this actor was none other than Michael J. Fox. When the 53-year-old actor was in his learning stage, Fox’s success greatly influenced him.

Perry was envious of Michael J. Fox

Remembering his love for the great actor, the Numb star talked about how jealous he was of Fox. He revealed, when he was in 9th grade, Fox had just appeared in Back to the Future. After watching the 62-year-old actor in the film, Perry was extremely jealous. As he admitted, “There was smoke coming out of my ears. I was so jealous of this guy.” And another reason for his jealousy and admiration for the Family Ties actor was also as unique.

At the time, Michael J. Fox had the #1 TV show and film simultaneously. Therefore, Perry always admired him and wanted to be like him. However, the Go On actor did become like him. Perry also had the #1 TV show and movie, just like his role model. In 2004, the Canadian star had Whole Nine Years movie and Friends at the peak as well.

However, while the fan-favorite actor loves this Canadian legendary actor, he has a beef with another one, too.

After reading the 17 Again actor’s memoir, one would think it is Keanu Reeves that Perry has beef with. However, it is not true. It is the Deadpool star, Ryan Reynolds. Apparently, The Odd Couple actor once expressed his anger for Reynolds because he believed the 46-year-old actor had stolen his character, Chandler’s persona.

Although the Wrexham AFC owner has never commented on it, Perry firmly believed it was the truth. And as far as the beef with Reeves is concerned, the author of the memoir openly apologized to the fellow actor and cleared the air.
