On 28th October, Friends actor Matthew Perry unexpectedly passed away, leaving a void in the hearts of fans around the world. Beloved for his iconic role as Chandler Bing, Perry’s wit, humor, and undeniable talent brought joy to millions. As netizens mourn the loss of the gifted actor, his co-stars from the iconic 90s sitcom have now gathered to comfort each other too. 

Earlier today, the quintet of Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, and Matt LeBlanc were seen gathered outside a church in Los Angeles. The sorrow that Perry’s near and dear are suffering was evident at the service.

Matthew Perry laid to rest by friends and family

Perry was laid to rest today in a private funeral service with his family. After the services for Perry concluded, the friends huddled together to comfort each other. His grief-stricken family, including his mother Suzanne Morrison, his father, John Bennett Perry, and his stepfather, Keith Morrison, were also observed outside. Later, his loved ones progressed to Forest Lawn Memorial Park beside the church. Nestled right across from the iconic Warner Bros Studios where Friends was shot is the cemetery where Perry was buried.

It now stands as a silent guardian, marking the conclusion of the decades-long era that the cast spent creating Friends with their departed friend. Besides Perry, the same cemetery also serves as the eternal abode of other Hollywood luminaries before him. After the ceremony, a multitude of mourners dressed in black attire gathered around the church with shared grief. Especially since the Friends star was cherished among so many.

Although the world remembers him most for his Friends character, Perry did not in fact want it to be so. 

The legacy that Perry wanted to leave behind

The imprint that Matthew Perry left on the world extends well beyond his unforgettable portrayal of Chandler Bing. Last year, he shared his life’s lessons with his fans through Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir written by him. In it, he wrote how he wanted to be remembered for helping others first before anything else! Not only did he want to help people through his charity, but also strived to chronicle his personal struggles, ignite inspiration in others, and set them on the path to a renewed life. With his distinctive voice, Perry aspired to forge a legacy that transcended his iconic role on Friends. In the wake of his sudden departure, the actor’s team has opened the doors for donations.
