Scott Westwood took to Instagram on 2023 Christmas Day to show his definite proof that Chandler and Monica from Friends moved into the Home Alone house in season 10. The place had entirely different interiors, so his proof was in the views outside. Art Director Daren Janes confirmed that this post was accurate and shared the backstory. “This is hilarious…..….. You caught me…” he commented.

Janes admitted when characters entered through the front door, they created the exterior view using a backdrop from Pacific Studios. Originally designed for Home Alone, this backdrop featured a quaint street, complete with charming brick homes and manicured lawns. However, this does not mean that the show’s couple moved into the McCallister House. Notably, the comedy-drama characters lived in New York while the McCallisters’ home was in Chicago.

While there was never a direct crossover episode between Friends and Seinfeld, there are several clues within the shows and their broader NBC context that strongly suggest they share the same universe. Both the shows had crossover appearances in the sitcom Mad About You, solidifying their connection. In one episode, Jerry and Elaine share a cab with Paul and Jamie Buchman, and in another, Paul bumps into Jerry on the street.

Several actors appeared in both shows, further blurring the lines. For instance, Elaine’s boyfriend, Jake Jarmel from Seinfeld, becomes Joey’s agent in the comedy series. Meanwhile, these unexpected connections not only add to the richness of the shows and movies but also highlight the ingenuity and resourcefulness of set designers like Janes. By creatively repurposing existing elements, they weave hidden threads of continuity, enriching the audience’s experience and sparking delightful discoveries.
