The Witcher star, Freya Allan, is set to grace the screen with a significant part in the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Recently, Allan shared a still on her Instagram story from the upcoming 2024 release. In the shared still, Freya Allan was seen climbing a mountain on an ape’s back, with the ocean below them. The announcement of her involvement in the fourth chapter of the Apes saga dropped in 2022, and the 2023 teaser trailer for the movie offered a sneak peek of her role.

The fourth chapter of the Planet of the Apes series is set to unfold many generations beyond the events of 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes. The news stirred a frenzy of excitement as the franchise staged a comeback after a seven-year hiatus. The response was so overwhelming that the head honcho of marketing at The Walt Disney Studios and Disney+ extended heartfelt gratitude to both the audience and the creative minds with a statement through Variety. This was not the first time Allan shared a snippet of the movie.

Just last month, the film gave fans the first sneak peek, causing a surge of excitement among her fans. Shortly after, Allan delighted her followers by sharing a fan’s story. Kima Hashemi, the fan, appreciated the teaser saying, “so proud and excited”. While the specifics of Allan’s character are still under wraps, what little fans saw in the trailer seems to be well within her comfort zone.

There’s a sense of déjà vu in Freya Allan’s role within the hinted plot, giving off a strong resemblance to The Witcher.

In the Netflix fantasy series, Allan played a powerful princess on the run, Ciri, and Geralt was tasked with safeguarding her. The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes trailer has that familiar vibe, this time with Noa in charge of keeping the human girl safe.

Freya Allan’s characters in The Witcher and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, although, share some common ground, these franchises are worlds apart. While one is steeped in fantasy, the other is in science fiction. In The Witcher, Ciri had magic that could turn the world upside down, but in the fourth Planet of the Apes movie, Allan’s character is as plain as day, completely at the mercy of the ape overlords. How much these two franchises are cut from the same cloth will only come to light on May 24, 2024.
