During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Howery amusingly recollected, “This is the fastest I’ve ever got, right?”. As Howery browsed the rings at Tiffany’s, his fiancée was browsing in another store. He found himself in a dilemma, trying to select the perfect ring from three appealing options. The actor even requested a plain bag instead of the recognizable Tiffany’s packaging to keep the surprise intact. The situation was so time-sensitive that Howery had to come up with clever excuses like attending a wedding or a Chinese buffet to make the process as swift as possible.
