Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have received an invitation to Colombia from the country’s Vice President, Francia Márquez. The Duke and Duchess will kick off their tour on August 15 in Bogotá, where they will be warmly welcomed by Vice President Márquez and her husband, Rafael Yerney Pinillo. On their first day, the Sussexes will focus on their Archewell Foundation’s mission, which addresses the impact of the digital world on young people, including their newly announced The Parents Network initiative.

Their second day will also be spent in Bogotá, where the Californian royals will meet with students to talk about emotional well-being in education. This will be followed by a luncheon hosted by the Vice President and a meeting with Colombia's Invictus Games competitors. They will also attend a popular music festival, although it has not been specified which day. After ticking off these engagements, the Duke and Duchess will travel to Cartagena and Cali. While some view this as a ‘mock-royal’ tour, the royals themselves are unfazed.

Back in May, royal expert Tom Quinn revealed to The Mirror that Prince William and King Charles were hopping mad over Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s three-day Nigerian tour, which seemed to mimic a royal visit. Quinn also mentioned that the Prince of Wales was hell-bent on finding "a way to stop this happening in future”.  But it turns out the senior royals are taking the Colombian trip in stride, and the reason is pretty simple.

Daily Mail's Ephraim Hardcastle recently revealed that the royal family’s main worry was whether the Sussexes might crash the Paris Olympics, where the royals are busy cheering on British competitors. Therefore, as long as the Sussexes do not step into that arena, Prince William and King Charles are reportedly happy to let the four-day Colombian tour play out.
