Following Their 3-2 Win Against Notts County, Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham Lands $25 Million Cash Injection to Upscale Stadium
Originally bought in 2021, by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Wrexham AFC is climbing the ladders of success rapidly. The Hollywood celebrities bought the club for $2 million. Since then, they have been trying to become a part of the Welsh community. With various donations and investments, Wrexham AFC already gave a lot of money to the development of the community.
The Welsh Government acquired the rear of the Kop in 2020, followed by the announcement of a £25m funding package for the eastern part of the project. As reported by Wrexham.com recently, after the UK Government rejected the bid for the Wrexham Gateway project, the project was uncertain. However, according to recent reports, the Councillors are ready to consider a new package for funding important parts of the project. It also includes the new Kop.

In January, Economy Minister Vaughan Gething commented on the allocation of the plan. While they were looking for alternative funding options, the Wrexham Gateway project is moving forward with the existing fund of £25m. As Plan B goes, the Minister said, they would have to discuss it with the football club. However, according to recent reports, Plan B might take place soon following the positive discussions.
Is Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC a part of this discussion?
Well, it is hard to imagine Wrexham AFC not being a part of the discussion. According to the council’s recent comments, they are planning a new way to fund the project, of course. They are reviewing the legal and commercial agreements. Including Wrexham AFC, the Wrexham Council, and other partners are working on an alternative finance plan following the bid for Levelling Up money. However, it was not a success earlier, but they are trying to make it happen this time.
Reportedly, the new proposal would help ensure they can draw funds from different sources, be it a public or a private sector. They are planning to split the funds from both sectors into approx 50% each. Securing the future of the scheme, this method might create a path for their funding in the future as well.
