Christopher Nolan spread his magic at the beginning of 2023 with his magnum opus, Oppenheimer. As the curtains opened for the chapter of 2024, the movie achieved a clean sweep with five Golden Globe awards out of eight nominations. Having done the unfathomable only two days ago, the star-studded cast of Oppenheimer appeared for the 14th Academy Governor’s Awards to exhibit their enchanting aura.

The Irish actor, Cillian Murphy with Robert Downey Jr. struck a pose for the paparazzi. Standing tall with the geniuses, the actresses, Florence Pugh and Emily Blunt were also stunning the red carpet with a triumphing glow. While Murphy and Blunt complemented an all-black palette with a power suit and a dazzling Miu Miu gown, Downey Jr. and Pugh flaunted a pastel color scheme with a shiny grey suit and a pink shimmer Rodarte gown. The cast looked all smiles with their heads held high, and well enough, for good reasons. 

The ceremony was previously scheduled for September. However, due to the strikes, the award ceremony was held on January 9th, in Los Angeles at the Ray Dolby Ballroom. Angela Bassett, Mel Brooks, and Carol Littleton were recipients of the Academy Honorary Award at the event. On the other hand, Michelle Satter was handed out with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. The event was brimming with several other celebrities, including Margot Robbie, Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, and others.

While the Oscar nominations are yet to surface, the chances for Cillian Murphy and Oppenheimer to bag the trophy home are roof-hitting. Especially given their Golden Globe-winning chart.

Oppenheimer’s Golden Globe wins

As the Oscar nomination will begin shortly and the nomination announcements will come in on January 23rd, Oppenheimer’s run in the award ceremony is taking great bids. Considering how Cillian Murphy took the Best Actor trophy home at the Golden Globes, the predictions weigh heavy for an Oscar win as well. Also, Oppenheimer bagged a total of 5 wins across various categories.

Apart from Murphy’s Best Actor win, Oppenheimer has taken the Best Film and the Best Score awards. Furthermore, Robert Downey Jr. secured the Best Supporting Actor award. The maker was also not far down the line as Nolan grabbed the Best Director win. Now, whether Oppenheimer will recreate its winning streak at the Oscars or not will only come to the surface once the event takes place on March 10th, 2024.
