Despite being at the receiving end of intense scrutiny and criticism, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, appears to be resilient and committed to her goals. Despite recent challenges and controversies, Markle has continued to pursue her endeavors, including her latest engagement in Nigeria. While some had hoped to see her efforts falter, she has instead received support and praise from various quarters, walking on the face of all who foul.

As the latest internet trends slammed the Duchess for a supposed catastrophe, the First Lady of Nigeria and now the emperor himself have sided firmly with the Duchess.

In a personal correspondence letter to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi, the Duchess wrote that she was humbled by the new title bestowed upon her as the traditional Yoruba name, Adetokunbo. The title refers to someone considered a royalty from across the seas. “I treasure the name and appreciate your trust in me to carry it with grace and dignity,” penned Markle in the letter to the Nigerian leader.

She further thanked the Emperor for the tour, which holds special significance not just to her, but also to her kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Markle stated that the trip gifted her with an opportunity to explore and understand her heritage. The same also extends to her kids, she said. “We look forward to coming back home one day soon,” the letter concluded.

Nigerian First Lady Oluremi Tinubu's recent public speech sparked controversy when she appeared to take a subtle jab at Hollywood's "nakedness". While she did not explicitly mention Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's recent tour, many interpreted her comments as a veiled reference to the Duchess's wardrobe choices.

However, the First Lady has since clarified her remarks, stating that they were not intended to target the Duchess and that she is always welcome in Nigeria. Tinubu's speech, she explained, was meant to highlight the importance of modesty and cultural sensitivity and not a personal attack on Markle. The Duchess was always welcome to Nigeria, she further added.
