One eventful day in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a decision to move out of their royal duties. In their quest to be “financially independent”, the two have created grave fissures within the royal households. Moreover, their sojourn pathway to that elusive dream was one laid out by numerous thorns and hurdles along the way. While recent times have seen many of their ill deals fade away and long-standing ones take their place, there is no denying that it did leave their stature in bad taste.

Royal experts, media, and talk show hosts in the UK have long criticized the duo for their media deals in the US. Joining the bandwagon is the satirical, Family Guy, with a brutal take on the Sussexes.

Amid high fanfare, the Sussex couple signed their debut deals with Netflix and Spotify. The couple’s $100 million, five-year deal with the streaming giant is all but set to expand following the success of The Heart of Invictus. Yet, reviews and reception for the same have not stood on par. Taking a dig at it, the latest episode of Family Guy shows the royals by a pool with a butler handing a cheque for “millions from Netflix for… no one knows what.”

The segment then continues to show a disinterested Prince Harry nudged by his wife to do a “sponsored Instagram post.” This scathing mock comes months after the Prince and Princess of Canada episode of South Park season 26 in February of this year. It had, without naming, taken shots at the royal couple for their concerns about privacy as well as the hoopla surrounding a book tour. Interestingly, the duo’s Spotify deal had fizzled out owing to low appeal, yet Netflix aims to grow its stronghold with even more shows.

Relations between the two royal factions have stooped to an all-time low. Prince Harry released his tell-all memoir, Spare, in which he levied heavy charges against all major royals. From King Charles III to Kate Middleton, the book angered royal quarters. Spare also rounded up the Duke’s handling of his mother’s death, his time in Afghanistan for the military as well as startling claims against his brother Prince William.

Months later, fresh talks are in the wind of Meghan Markle following suit. The memoir could lead to a massive rupture of the royal lines adding to the already strained ties between the Sussexes and the Waleses. With the latter not wishing for a reconciliation following the public allegations from the California-based royals, it will be a waiting game to see what impact Markle’a rumored memoir will have.
