Zack Snyder is a visionary filmmaker who has gained a massive fan following and never fails to impress the world. As he is ready with his highly anticipated sci-fi Netflix movie series Rebel Moon, he is all over the internet. Adding to it, Snyder also expressed his desire to bring a video game in the form of a movie, which might be a tremendous surprise for the audiences. Talking about the streaming giant, in the past, it successfully adapted the gameplay of The Witcher.

Originally, it was based on the novels, and it did wonders for the makers. Considering the recent speculations, it would be interesting to see if Snyder teams up with Netflix for another project after Rebel Moon. 

If not Snyderverse, Zack Snyder might collaborate with Netflix for something else

The world has seen the craze of Snyderverse and how the fans desperately asked Netflix to get the rights to the same. While that did not happen, it seems like the filmmaker has plans with the streaming giant. During a conversation with IGN alongside his wife Deborah Snyder, they were asked to a name video game that would be great to turn into a movie. “I mean, Gears has always come up in sort of our circle, I was a fan of the game,” said the Man of Steel director.  

Zack Snyder hoped to see Gears of War getting adapted into a movie. Interestingly enough, Netflix has acquired the rights, and Gears of War is already being adapted into a movie soon. With Snyder’s partnership with Netflix, fans are speculating if he could be involved in the game adaptation alongside his Rebel Moon universe. 

Adapting a game into a movie has not been a fruitful formula for many filmmakers as sometimes it has failed terribly. Some films that failed terribly were Monster Hunter (2020), Tekken (2009), and many others. However, in recent times, it was The Last of Us, Super Mario Bros. Movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, and many other projects that have been a hit among the audiences.

Following the success of these adaptations, it would be interesting to see how Gears of War would turn out to be. If things turn out in Snyder’s favor, he would not have to search much for the lead actor as a Marvel actor is ready to take up the role.

After Netflix announced the adaptation in 2022, it was revealed that Jon Spaihts, known for Doctor Strange and Dune, was working on the script. However, no official cast has been announced for the project. Therefore, Marvel star Dave Bautista, who was also in Snyder’s Army of the Dead, expressed his desire to work for the Netflix adaptation of Gears of War. 

In a conversation with Variety earlier this year, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 star opened up about his desire for the role of Marcus Fenix, the lead of the game. However, he revealed that he had not got the call from the streaming giant. Maybe Snyder will call his Scott Ward if he gets to direct the adaptation.
