Following His ‘Superman’ Rejection, Fans Want to See ‘The Boys’ Jack Quaid in This Iconic DC Role for James Gunn

From his blink-and-you-miss-it debut in the first Hunger Games to anchoring one of the most-watched shows on Amazon Prime, The Boys, Jack Quaid has come a long way. Despite carving out his own niche in Hollywood, the nepotism chatter has always trailed behind him. However, after he shared his rejection story for James Gunn’s Superman, it became clear that having privileged parents does not always mean a free pass to dream roles. Nonetheless, fans believe Quaid could still find a place for himself in the new DC universe.

The Boys fame, Quaid, recently appeared on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast where he revealed how he had sent a self-tape as an audition for the role of James Gunn’s Superman. However, it did not pan out, as in the 32-year-old's words, he may not have “fit the bill physically.” Quaid also claimed that David Corenswet is a much better fit for the role. Fans, however, think, that if not Superman, the actor could nail the role of Wally West in the DCU, which would “go unbelievable hard,” according to X user @ResonantJustice.

Jack Quaid has lent his voice to Superman and Clark Kent in the animated My Adventures with Superman series. Before his short-lived attempt to star in the 2025 DC movie, he also voiced Alberto Falcone in Batman: The Long Halloween and Earth-65’s Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. However, fans do not think that is the end of the line for him playing comic book superheroes.

They have flooded X with their imaginings of Jack Quaid in the DC, not just as Wally West but in a host of other roles.

Fans are not letting go of their hopes for Jack Quaid in the DCU

Wally West is the original Kid Flash and the third Flash. Jack Quaid was previously rumored to play the Flash in DC as well. However, many fans believe he does not quite fit the bill for Wally West, as the actor playing Wally should not be older than Superman. With Quaid being a year older than David Corenswet, fans think it is a bit of a stretch. They have suggested other characters, mostly Barry Allen, who would be a better fit for Quaid.

Some fans, however, could see Jack Quaid as Wally West.

Jack Quaid is not the only star from The Boys to get caught up in James Gunn’s DCU rumors. Antony Starr was also rumored to play Booster Gold in the franchise. However, unlike Quaid, Starr is not keen on playing action-powered superhero roles anymore. As for Quaid, only time will tell if James Gunn will find a spot for him in the DC universe.
