“I would love to go out with you.” Hayley, portrayed by the gorgeous Susan Ward, helps out Matt LeBlanc’s Joey in his quest for a date in this hilarious scene from Friends. Unaware of his A-game and brushing past Gunther’s subtle attempts to warn, the charming actress made her first and only guest appearance on season nine of the show in The One With The Sharks episode. Airing in 2003, the near-minute-long scene was close on the heels of the actress and model’s burgeoning popularity in showbiz and came close on the cusp of her movie breakthrough.

In an acting career that dwarfed in comparison to her modeling achievements, Ward did her best to leave an imprint on the entertainment industry. Here is a list of five of her most well-known projects for a deep dive into her artistry.

Poison Ivy: The New Seduction (1997)

The third in the Poison Ivy trilogy, the erotic thriller, starring Jaime Pressly and Megan Edwards, marked the film debut of Susan Ward. Taking the role of Sandy, a girl at a party, the actress’s role was brief in a movie that largely revolved around seeking revenge with a tinge of tempting betrayal. The films that explored sexuality as a weapon had left audiences captivated by the sly maneuverability of the plot, which featured twists and turns at every take.

The plot moves around the character of Pressly’s Violet as she webs a plan to reduce her childhood foes through seduction. Not only does it showcase how revenge can harbor itself in the unseen of ways but it also employs strategic moves that leave the audience wondering how did they not see that coming.

Shallow Hal (2001)

The Gwyneth Paltrow starrer romantic comedy starts off as a tale of Jack Black’s character, Hal Larson. The theme of the movie stands literally inscribed in its name as it pitches Hal as a character with a shallow mindset. The character spends his days at nightclubs scouring for women who are physically perfect to his perception.

The movie has Susan Ward play Jill, Hal’s neighbor. Described as sensual and appealing to his eyes, Jill serves a first-hand rejection to Hal for a date request owing to, once again, his shallow mindset. The tables turn when the character meets self-help guru, Tony Robbins, who makes him see the beauty in women as they are regardless of imperfections and sets him on a love story of absolute merit. The viewership is comparable in similarity to the 2023 upcoming Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell starrer Anyone But You.

Going Greek (2001)

Going Greek centers around Oliver Hudson’s freshman characters, such as Pledge Ziegler, forced to join a fraternity. The R-rated comedy and romance mixture remains churned well enough to command a 66% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It follows Jack who is struggling to maintain his school and romantic life balance. Meanwhile, the allure of parties and craze of erotica and beer pools start to bewitch him away.

Susan Ward comes into the play as the character, Wendy. Zeigler approaches the character to sleep with her as part of his pledge that bound him to sleep with at least one girl in each sorority. However, Wendy would only allow Zeigler to do so if he agreed to an oath. The turn of events has the footballer overcome the fallacy of his own life while trying to establish a meaningful life.

The Jack Hunter trilogy (2008)

The adventure film series follows Ivan Sergei’s Jack Hunter, on the lookout for treasure from the hidden kingdom of Ugarit. Drawing some parallels and comparisons between itself and Indiana Jones, the movie stretches itself apart by drawing in the Russian Mafia. The three-part series had all of its flicks released in the same year. While the first one took place in Syria, the second revolved around the tomb of Akhenaten, with the last about a deadly artifact.

Susan Ward played Liz in all of her three outings and acted as a supporting character in the quest. The lady love in the movie, Nadaia Ramadan, played by Joane Kelly has a love-hate relationship with Jack yet accompanies him on all three outings as his leader of a secret US service agency. The trilogy is a good watch as it can call itself an Indiana Jones meets Mission Impossible hybrid.

Make It or Break It (2009-2012)

The teenage ABC drama marked another TV appearance of Susan Ward apart from Friends. Instead of a guest appearance, this time around she played Chloe Kmetko, the mother of a young gymnast. Marking her appearance for the first two seasons, Ward leaves an impression. Additionally, it was one of her long-time commitments to a show aside as Meg Cummings in Sunset Beach (1997–1999).

The drama had a group of teen gymnasts who are hard at struggling to train for the 2012 Summer Olympics. It focuses on the themes of teenage issues such as parental discords, early romance, competitiveness, jealousy, friendship, and betrayal. A well-gelled story cemented the show firmly with an 80% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.
