5 Marvel Characters That Should Team up With Spider Man in the 4th Film in the Franchise

Marvel Studios has been working quite hard to piece together its 2026 lineup of projects. And among the projects that are gaining a lot of momentum lately in terms of production, especially following Deadpool & Wolverine, is the highly-anticipated fourth installment in Sony and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man franchise. While fans are excited to see Tom Holland reprising his role in the fourth film, there is still plenty to consider, especially with the MCU’s Multiverse Saga now bringing in a wealth of new heroes and characters from various franchises.

Although Spider-Man has already had some fantastic team-ups with characters like Iron Man and Doctor Strange, there are still many characters in the MCU he has yet to interact with.

The Ultimate Spider-Man team

There is no better pairing for Spider-Man than the wall crawler’s classic crew, the Ultimates. The Ultimate Spider-Man team- Nova, Iron Fist, White Tiger, and Luke Cage- are all teenage superheroes who, in the comics, have been part of Nick Fury’s program. The program was to train young, talented individuals in their journeys to become a team of great heroes like the Avengers. This group also included Peter Parker.

The Ultimate Spider-Man, however, had a different take on Peter Parker than the core superhero. It is also said that neither Luke Cage nor Iron Fist will be recast if they return before Avengers: Secret Wars. Still, if this team-up happens, it could lead to some wild crossover events and bring a richer, more diverse MCU for the Spider-Man franchise.

Daredevil

Last year, rumors got out about Daredevil possibly showing up in Spider-Man 4. Initially, the rumor was that the movie would feature Kingpin, with Peter Parker teaming up with Daredevil to take on Mayor Fisk. This crossover made sense especially because of the rumors about a Black Cat feature by Sydney Sweeney. In the comics, Black Cat is often seen as the perfect link between Spider-Man and Daredevil.

It seems, however, that the creators are changing their plans. According to Cosmic Circus, the Kingpin storyline for Spider-Man 4 might be pushed to after the Secret Wars. Nonetheless, with talk of Charlie Cox returning as Matt Murdock in the MCU’s Daredevil: Born Again, and speculation about a Ben Affleck feature, it would have been truly interesting to see this cast alongside Tom Holland on screen.

Deadpool

Deadpool has always admired Spider-Man and dreamt of being his best friend. And after Wolverine, if there is one duo that fans have been hoping to see is a Deadpool crossover with Spider-Man. Fans have been anticipating this team-up ever since Marvel Studios got back the rights to the X-Men. After all, Deadpool and Spider-Man crossovers in the Marvel comics are some of the most memorable team-ups around.

There is, however, some skepticism about Tom Holland’s age in the fandom. Holland is still in his twenties, while Ryan Reynolds is nearly two decades older. This significant age gap could result in Holland being overshadowed by Reynolds’ presence on screen.

Can Spider-Man Crossover With Deadpool Before ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ and Even Without Ryan Reynolds?

For this, many believe that Andrew Garfield might be a better choice for Spider-Man when it comes to teaming up with Deadpool.

X-Men

Ever since Deadpool & Wolverine released, fans have been speculating about which other X-Men characters might enter the MCU, and there has been plenty of talk about Spider-Man 4 crossovers with the X-Men, too. When io9 asked Kevin Feige about the plans for 'mutantkind', he shared just how vast the roster of characters is. However, Spider-Man can never officially join one of the X-Men strike teams.

The reason is that Spider-Man is not a mutant; he got his powers from a radioactive spider’s bite. He would be considered artificially enhanced, similar to the Merc with a Mouth. And while Professor Xavier would appreciate his skills, unfortunately, he would not qualify Peter Parker to join the X-Men. But that certainly does not rule out an exceptional team-up.

Human Torch

Spider-Man and the Human Torch have been the best of friends in the Marvel Universe for many years. One of the best parts about this duo is that Peter Parker and Johnny Storm have very similar personalities, which leads to them getting on each other's nerves from time to time. However, that same dynamic has helped them build a strong friendship- even though neither of them would ever openly admit it.

After Parker's superhero journey took away everything he held dear in No Way Home- including Aunt May, Ned, and MJ- he may be in the right place to learn from a new friend in the Fantastic Four's Human Torch. And who knows, perhaps the British duo of Tom Holland and Joseph Quinn could create an even more interesting bromance than what fans have seen between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
