No vampire-themed franchise before or since has had quite the impact of the Twilight saga. Even now, more than ten years after the franchise wrapped up, it is still being talked about. There are a ton of articles and video essays reigniting long-dormant debates about Twilight’s cultural significance on the internet. But above everything, the franchise gave us our ultimate teenage obsession, Robert Pattinson- as the brooding heartthrob. And now fans are looking back on the saga with a big thank you for giving us the 'Pattinson 2.0' era of his career.

Robert Pattinson became so synonymous with the Twilight franchise that when the five-film saga wrapped up in 2012, many fans thought the actor had taken retirement from films and had just vanished into the Hollywood ether. Despite the Twilight obsession among fans, Pattinson was never that attached to the film series. In fact, he has always been openly critical of it. In a 2013 interview with Chris Van Vliet, he said, “There's a lot of stuff in the Twilight world that doesn't make sense.” That pretty much sums up how he felt about the vampire fantasy.

Since then, Pattinson has worked hard to reinvent himself. He has taken on roles that could not be more different from Edward Cullen. Some of his upcoming films include Mickey 17, Die, My Love, The Drama, The Odyssey, and The Batman: Part II. Now, fans are claiming that Twilight was the wake-up call that helped him figure out the types of movies he does not want to do. They have taken to X to share their thoughts.

Fans thank Twilight for changing Robert Pattinson’s taste in scripts

The Twilight saga had its moment when preteens and teenagers loved it without shame. But as those fans grew up, the series started being labeled as cringe-worthy. That shift in public opinion is a big reason why the anticipated Twilight spin-off never really took off. Funny enough, many of the same fans who once adored the saga now find themselves agreeing with Robert Pattinson’s blunt critiques of it. A fan wrote that we are "lucky that Twilight pissed him off enough that he developed the best taste of any living actor". Another pointed out how Pattinson "went the complete opposite of what Edward was and the rest is history".

"Going from being a pretty boy to being known to be the weird guy actor is really impressive", a fan commented on Pattinson's trajectory since Twilight. Many fans mentioned Pattinson's colossal paycheck from Twilight, which might have given him the "monetary freedom" to make these creative choices. A fan wrote, "Got the retirement money from Twight so now he can pick all the good stuff". It seems like the Edward Cullen obsession is finally winding down, and fans are far more interested in Pattinson’s post-Twilight career now.
