Shifting from the MCU to the DCU, James Gunn stirred a lot of emotions in Superman fans. By axing the Snyderverse, Gunn crushed the hopes of people who wanted to see more of Henry Cavill as the Kryptonian. However, in an attempt to create his version of the Clark Kent story, the new DC boss is bringing Superman: Legacy with David Corenswet as the Man of Steel. Amidst all the hype around Gunn’s upcoming projects, fans took a jibe at the director’s statement about listening to fans.

Discussing Film’s X (Formerly Twitter) handle posted a statement by the American director stating, “When I’m casting a role I will sometimes see who fans have suggested online.” Although sometimes the suggestions would be favorable for his team, Gunn admitted fan suggestions did not lead to anyone being cast. Referring to this statement, Henry Cavill fans rushed in to express their dissatisfaction with axing his Superman.

James Gunn often interacts with fans on social media where many times he addresses the casting rumors. Moreover, he often breaks the news about the projects, and even shares amusing tweets with fans. Following the James Gunn and Peter Safran takeover at the DC Studios, fans suggested recasting the Enola Holmes actor. However, the Guardians of the Galaxy director wanted to revamp the Universe, hence denying the requests.

Ultimately, Gunn’s statement united the fandom, who had things to say about the Henry Cavill snub.

While Cavill fans expressed their emotions, fans dropped their wishes to see their favorite stars in one of Gunn’s projects. One of them even suggested Sean Gunn, James Gunn’s brother, being appointed as well. A handful of Gunn fans expressed their faith in the director, too.

With endless suggestions for several stars, fans indeed poured their hearts out. However, they could not stop rooting for the English actor as well.
