Earlier this year, Avengers: Kang Dynasty was officially scrapped by the MCU. This decision to move away from the Kang storyline for good was partly due to the legal drama surrounding Jonathan Majors, who played the character earlier, and partly because Kang just did not capture hearts (or fears) like other supervillains like Thanos did during the Infinity Saga. The Season 2 finale of Loki tied up Kang’s arc nicely, giving Marvel a clean slate to steer the Multiverse Saga in a new direction. But now, it seems the MCU might be having second thoughts.

When Jonathan Majors was removed from Marvel’s future projects after his personal controversies, fans immediately started speculating who could take over the role of Kang next. And one of the top contenders in their mind was the Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo. During this year’s Variety’s 10 Actors to Watch, as reported by ScreenGeek, Domingo revealed that he has been in talks with Marvel. “We’re having engagement,” he shared, though he admitted there have not been any discussions about specific roles- at least, not yet.

Domingo, nonetheless, never dodged the rumors. In February, he told Vanity Fair that while his team has had conversations with Marvel, he is not sure how much truth there is to the talk about him stepping in as Kang in the MCU. However, Domingo added, "I would welcome a conversation around it". He also took a moment to thank fans for so much love and even mentioning his name for such an iconic role.

Now that Colman Domingo has confirmed he is on Marvel’s radar, fans can see the possibility of Kang the Conqueror making a comeback.

Colman Domingo is no stranger to Marvel characters. He is already lending his voice to Norman Osborn in the upcoming alternate-reality series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. This has led some fans to wonder if the MCU might cast him as a live-action version of the same character. But what they are really curious about is how Domingo would fare as Kang- especially given his history of playing villains.

Of course, fans have thrown out plenty of other Marvel characters they would love to see Domingo bring to life.

For now, the MCU has not shared any plans to bring back Kang’s character. And with Doctor Doom already making his grand return- played by none other than Robert Downey Jr.- it is just as likely Marvel has a completely different role in mind for Domingo.
