But following the new year’s dawn, the studio is turbocharging its superhero aspirations, recruiting a dynamic force of seasoned veterans and exciting newcomers to join the MCU’s pantheon of legends. With their sights now set on a Jurassic World actor to take the role of Storm, fans are already on cloud nine, and their anticipation? Clearly off the roof.

According to Marvel News on X, Marvel Studios is rumored to be eyeing DeWanda Wise for the role of Storm in an upcoming MCU film. Wise previously had a near-entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after being cast in Captain Marvel (2019) as Maria Rambeau but had to back out from the project because of scheduling conflicts while filming Netflix’s She’s Gotta Have It. Although Marvel Studios has kept mum on the casting rumors, if Wise does bring Storm to life, she will be living proof that dreams come true.

Interestingly, in a March 2024 interview with The Movie Dweeb, DeWanda Wise went candid, revealing her superhero aspirations. “[Storm] is the only Marvel character I’m interested in… It’s the only Marvel character I’ve ever been interested in,” the Jurassic World actor noted. While the actor may have joked about “going to single-handedly make that happen” with the host, the MCU rumor mill is in full swing a year later, and all eyes are on Wise.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe made some dazzling new additions in 2024, leaving fans to buckle their seatbelts for its 2025 cinematic roster. However, the gossip grapevine fidgeting with the idea of DeWanda Wise as Storm has fans screaming “P E R F E C T I O N” again. 

With Marvel Studios regaining the rights to the X-Men characters after Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, fans have been on high alert regarding the integration of mutants into the MCU. While fans got a bit of that taste in the highest-grossing R-rated comic book movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, following DeWanda Wise’s casting rumors as Storm, they are clearly on the lookout for more.
