2023 seems to be a golden year for cinema enthusiasts as they are greeted with news of sequels of cherished movies. On one hand, Arnold Schwarzenegger is hinting at a Conan the Barbarian sequel while on the other Greta Gerwig is redefining a multi-media franchise with her upcoming Barbie movie. And for the first time in a while, fans of the horror genre are also a part of the noise as Beetlejuice 2 is officially confirmed for release somewhere in 2024. But that is not the only news surrounding the sequel that has fans gaping.

If there is one man who does not make a mistake when it comes to his craft, it’s Tim Burton. Therefore, it is no surprise that he was far from committing the grave sin of sequels by replacing the original cast.

Beetlejuice 2 cast is a star-studded mix of vintage and modern Hollywood

Back in 1988, as he told a wacky tale of ghosts calling upon exorcists to drive away the new settlers at their house with top scores in horror and comedy, Tim Burton became eternal for his fans. This sentiment was once again felt by the masses with the release of Netflix’s Wednesday. And as he gears up to give another go at his $74.7 million blockbuster, Burton is counting upon his tried and tested cast. Therefore, Jenna Ortega has joined the bandwagon, which consists of Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe.

More than three decades after the first movie, Beetlejuice 2 will take on the arduous task of providing something new to the audience while retaining the magic of the old. And looks like it will do just that and much more as it brings in Jenna Ortega as Lydia Deetz’s daughter.

While Jenna Ortega being restricted to gothic roles despite her range is worth pondering over, it is not stopping fans from squealing over the pitch-perfect casting of the sequel.

Michael Keaton will return as Betelgeuse, Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz, Monica Bellucci as Betelgeuse’s wife, and Jenna Ortega as Lydia Deetz’s daughter in Beetlejuice 2.

The casting is crucial as fans have grown up relating to these characters. And a sequel would only hit the spot if the same 17-year-old Winona Ryder who played Lydia Deetz returns to continue her adventures. As apart from Alec Baldwin, the majority of the cast returns, fans cannot help but call it “peak cinema.”
