Prince Harry is infamous for his generosity. Among his several charitable pursuits, the Invictus Games came into the limelight recently. Started in 2014, it was the founding patron, the Duke of Sussex’s, humble idea borrowed from the United States’ Warrior Games. Following the years of honoring the sick and wounded veterans, the Duke and his wife Meghan Markle’s Archewell Production decided to honor the Games with a documentary. Released just a couple of days ago, the first episode of Heart of Invictus was nothing short of inspiring. Knowing his empathizing nature well, his fan following came forward to vouch for the Duke.

While the Duke of Sussex surpassed Markle and his brother Prince William in popularity rankings in the US, he seems to have a bad reputation with the British media. And vice versa. With hands on the Bible, the Duke made surprising revelations about the British media house, Mirror Group Newspaper Ltd. Moreover, he also emphasized the effects of tabloids and their “destructive” hand in his younger days. The same hostility of the British media was highlighted by another fan in a tweet on Twitter

The tweet revealed how the British media invalidated the sufferings of the veterans. They cited the reason to be an attempt to discredit the Duke’s military service in Afghanistan. In addition, the June 6 release of his memoir, Spare, overturned some tables and raised quite some eyes. And, as expected, it received heavy criticism from his native country’s media.

The fans took his side upon the release of his memoir, his self exiled move to California, and the compassion he showed in the first episode of his docuseries, Heart of Invictus.

Fans defend Prince Harry, thank him for his service

The netizens on Twitter defended the Prince and the media houses’ meager attempts at pulling him down. They were proud of him for serving his country in the military. While they did not fathom why the same country’s media would troll an ex-veteran, they quickly disposed of the negativity. The common sentiment was that the Duke of Sussex had all their respect.

One user pointed out the credibility of military-related facts in Spare, while another pointed out the ways of British press.

Meanwhile, some users agreed with the original tweet’s content.

Some even guessed that the Duke would face undue backlash once this year’s Invictus Games starts in Düsseldorf.

Suffice to say, the Sussex supporters are here to have their Duke’s back. What is more? The fandom credited Harry and Meghan and his novel, Spare, to be an eye-opener. Not only did they credit Netflix productions for helping them see the actual picture, but also credited Oprah’s interview with the couple for an honest and candid conversation.
