Fans Rally Around Ryan Reynolds Amidst Internet Backlash Over His Alleged "bulls*hit movies"
“Ryan Reynolds plays himself in every movie”. This is a claim that has seemingly been stamped on the Canadian actor's forehead ever since he entered the mainstream. It is not to say that Reynolds has not excelled at portraying witty, charismatic, unbothered characters, but plenty of fans have pointed out his tendency to stick to a certain shtick. With the highly anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine on the horizon, a fan has picked up on the same discourse, which has sparked a whole another round of debate on X.
A fan page, Cinema Tweets, on X, recently started a fresh round of debate about whether Ryan Reynolds “sucks” or not. The user argued that despite the 47-year-old’s huge fortune, fame, and clout in the film industry, he has morphed into the "worst Hollywood sellout" in today’s scene. “How much longer do we have to put up with these bulls*it movies?”, asked Cinema Tweets. Nonetheless, the user also mentioned the “promising” start to Reynolds' career.

The page pointed to films like Adventureland, Smoking Aces, and Safe House as evidence of his versatility. However, in recent years, the actor appears to have veered towards churning out only cash-cow movies, with Deadpool being the only exception, rated as "fine" by the user. Despite this, the X critic criticized Reynolds for roping Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine, thus undermining the otherwise flawless conclusion to the character's journey in 2017’s Logan.
This lengthy tirade prompted fans from every corner to offer their own views on the discussion about Ryan Reynolds’ acting abilities
Fans stood by Ryan Reynolds in every possible way
Ryan Reynolds is not the only actor in the industry who has found what works best for him and sticks to it as much as possible. Consider the popular and acclaimed actor Tom Hanks. The man has been playing the sympathetic leading man, with consistent mannerisms and vocal cadence, for decades, be it Forrest Gump, Cast Away, Apollo 13, or Saving Private Ryan, just to name a few. And fans did not hesitate to point out that Reynolds is not the first actor to adhere to his niche.
Fans also defended Reynolds against the accusation of him "dragging" Hugh Jackman to play Wolverine again. A detailed description of how Deadpool & Wolverine's concept came into fruition was given by Jackman himself, not too long ago.
Many fans also pushed the idea that if this formula is working for the actor, getting him financial gains, then there is nothing wrong with sticking to it.

While the majority of sentiments leaned towards Ryan Reynolds, there were fans who genuinely felt that the actor should explore roles outside of his usual characters. Nonetheless, with Deadpool & Wolverine coming, fans might come to realize that Reynolds usually gravitates toward his Wade Wilson-esque roles because he truly shines in them.
