Henry Cavill is cherished by fans as Superman as he played the iconic Superhero character in the DC Universe with ease. The British actor missed out on playing James Bond but landed the role of Superman in the superhero franchise, which became very popular. Regrettably, Cavill won’t appear in the next installment of the DC Universe franchise as the makers have stated their intention to look for a new actor. 

Fans on X (previously Twitter) were a ball of nostalgia as Cavill’s final appearance as Superman in Black Adams completed one year. Fans were up for a surprise when it was announced Henry Cavill won’t be coming back as Superman in the new Superman flick. This added to the fact that the actor did not even get a formidable farewell, which really saddened fans of not just Cavill but an entire generation of DC fans.

Cavill was confident in donning the Superman role in its next venture, but destiny had other plans. The 40-year-old actor had posted on Instagram “I will, after all,  not be returning as Superman,” which broke fans’ hearts. While the exit was surprising even for Cavill, he will be in a new avatar in Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle.

Henry Cavill’s exit as Superman was not something fans or even the actor himself was expecting. The unprecedented exit, James Gunn’s new Superman, and the unsatisfactory cameo, compiled led fans to grieve inconsolably on Black Adams’ anniversary.

Fans on X once again took to the platform in unison to show their support for the British actor’s nuanced portrayal. A post by One Take News garnered a lot of reactions from the fans. Many, with their emotive comments, suggested that it broke their heart.

Much like any news pertaining to the role of Superman, this post too gathered a series of reactions stating that neither Superman nor the franchise will ever be the same again with Cavill gone.

Most of the reactions mirrored the exasperated frustration of Henry Cavill when writing his farewell message. While the actor looks forward to another successful franchise in a spy thriller, fans have not moved on from his previous one.
