Fans Give Up on Zoë Kravitz's Catwoman for This MCU Actress, Following Latest Reports

Published 08/24/2024, 10:12 PM EDT

Zoë Kravitz was first seen as Catwoman in 2017's The LEGO Batman Movie before she reprised her role again in 2022's The Batman. Warner Bros. is still in the process of revamping its DC Cinematic Universe with James Gunn and Peter Safran, and part of that plan includes a film centered on Gotham City Sirens, which will unite Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn. The anticipated project will feature Margot Robbie as the iconic Harley Quinn. Meanwhile, fans have seemingly chosen another actress as Catwoman, this time from the MCU.

The latest favorite among fans for Catwoman in the DCU is Morena Baccarin, who is known for her role as Vanessa Carlysle in the Deadpool franchise. This interest picked up in the Marvel fandom after Baccarin mentioned during a recent Instagram live Q&A that she has always wanted to play Catwoman. The 45-year-old actress, who fans believe has the right charm and seductive nature needed for Catwoman’s role, said during the live session, "I've wanted to play Catwoman forever”.

Morena Baccarin was last seen in the billion-dollar blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine, alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. However, much like Deadpool 2, where many of her important scenes were reportedly cut, Vanessa was left on the sidelines. This is not surprising, given the age-old trend of sidelining 'the superhero’s girlfriend' in comic book stories. Now, fans want to see more of Baccarin.

It looks like the perfect moment for Baccarin to take a big role in the superhero world, even if it means crossing over to a different universe.

Morena Baccarin's dream of playing Catwoman has fans' full support

Apart from Zoë Kravitz, another actress popular for playing Catwoman was Halle Berry, who could have also been a part of Deadpool & Wolverine alongside Morena Baccarin, if she had not been allegedly ghosted. However, Berry's role as Catwoman turned into a disaster, and she even accepted the Razzie for Worst Actress in 2005. But fans are optimistic that this will not be the fate of Morena Baccarin as the cat-themed criminal from Gotham City, should she really get cast in the role.

Fans can absolutely "see the vision" of Morena Baccarin as Catwoman in the DCU.

Baccarin has already played a DC character before, back in 2015. She was Leslie Thompkins on Fox's television series Gotham. But since that is completely separate from the films, that should not be an issue. Now, it remains to be seen whether Baccarin will ever make a switch from the MCU to the DCU or stay stuck with her limited screen time in the popular Deadpool franchise.
