It has been over half a decade since Euphoria arrived with its pilot episode. In the meantime, its star-studded force has warmed up to Hollywood in more ways than one would expect, with some even becoming the most pursued on the director’s wish list. Despite the dramatic turning in Euphoria’s second installment, the third has been a long time coming, blanketed in rumors of scheduling conflicts to axe it altogether. But right after the show followed up with a promising update, Storm Reid dropped another frustrating one, flipping fans’ excitement into disappointment.

Even though there has been a mounting dilemma and confusion surrounding Euphoria season 3, the installment is actually happening, and there is no going back. However, the latter part does not apply to Storm Reid since, after all this time, Los Angeles Times confirmed her exit from the Emmy-winning series. “I’m very excited for season 3,” Reid told Rotten Tomatoes at the Governors Awards on Monday, before revealing that Gia Bennett will not be a part of it.

Storm Reid seized the opportunity to shower gratitude to the cast, crew, and HBO for having her in Euphoria. “I’m so glad that that’s a part of my legacy,” Reid reflected on the “cultural phenomenon” Euphoria brought on its coattails. While the Emmy-winning actor did not reveal the reasons behind her departure from the series this upcoming season, it caused many fans to lose the excitement that had been brewing despite repeated pushbacks.

Euphoria stars recently revealed they had to scrap numerous projects due to the filming delays, but whether Storm Reid faced similar challenges remains unclear. Regardless, fans did not welcome the report, neither seemed eager to anticipate the upcoming season anymore.

Just when fans were gearing up to roll out the red carpet for Euphoria’s third season, Storm Reid’s decision to step back sent them right back to square one. With frustration written all over their faces, the same supporters seem ready to boycott the season altogether. Whether it is out of loyalty for the artist, the series, or just a reaction to one too many disappointing updates is anyone’s guess.

Many of their hopes already looked like they were on the last straw, while some others felt like she was not exactly an important character like the rest of the cast.
