However, when Rami Malek ventured into the action realm, fans were left underwhelmed, particularly after he reportedly declined life-changing advice from Cruise. This perceived misstep has sparked widespread criticism, with fans lamenting the missed opportunity that could have been a game-changer.

In an interview with Discussing Film, Rami Malek shared Tom Cruise's advice ahead of his upcoming movie, The Amateur. The Mission: Impossible star reportedly advised Malik to undergo “weapons training.” Malek tried explaining the plot to Cruise, highlighting that his character is “an amateur” who is not even competent enough to shoot a gun to save his own life. However, in a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, he added the action hero star was somehow “adamant” about Malek getting a weapons training. 

Rami Malek revealed he had been training for a long time for The Amateur, and a lot of running was involved. “No one can do that Tom Cruise run like Tom Cruise,” he said, referring to the unforgettable Mission: Impossible scene. Although Malek gravitated towards characters portrayed by Cruise in Mission: Impossible and Daniel Craig in James Bond, he wanted to play a “regular guy doing something you least expect him to be capable of doing” in The Amateur.

While it is not difficult to understand where Rami Malek was coming from, fans were not sitting well with the denial, calling it a “massive fumble” on his part.

Tom Cruise is no stranger to action hero roles, having been attached to some of the greatest franchises of all time, including Top Gun and Mission: Impossible. With Final Reckoning almost at the finish line, and him playing coy about what is next in store for him, fans have been on cloud nine with anticipation. However, amidst the enthusiastic return of the action boss, Rami Malek’s recent revelation for The Amateur has left fans in a heated debate. 

Some feel Cruise was getting sour for no reason. 

Meanwhile, the majority felt Malek’s pass was actually a subtle declining of a possible invite to train with Cruise. Although everyone wished Malek well for the film, somehow, they could not get behind Cruise’s advice. As a result, while fans came to terms with Malek’s reasonings, they saw something the actor could not see—a chance to train with the best, required or not.
