Prince Harry’s efforts to spin the narrative around his royal departure have not exactly endeared him to the public. Instead, his long stretch of hogging the headlines had stirred up backlash from the media and fans alike. With the royal family now under intense scrutiny and photo experts dissecting the digitally enhanced royal portraits, certain remarks made by the Prince in the past have come to light, indicating that perhaps the Duke of Sussex was always justified in his judgment, even if people did not believe him back then. 

The first statement was from Prince Harry’s interview with Michael Strahan on ABC News Live while promoting his memoir Spare. Spare was the bombshell that not only earned critical acclaim but also unearthed many insider secrets about the royal family. When  Strahan asked if the Duke had "sold out his family", the latter pointed out how his family and The Firm consistently fed "the British press with lies, mistruths, disinformation". He also shared the negative impact this had on his wife Meghan Markle.

Fans also focused on a segment from Volume II of Prince Harry’s Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan. In this part, the Prince recalled a promise he made with his brother, Prince William, to avoid repeating the mistakes of their father’s office.  Prince Harry expressed his disappointment, saying, "To see my brother's office copy the very same thing.... that was heartbreaking". Prince Harry also revealed in the docuseries that he would much rather face the wrath of the press than participate in "this game, or this business of trading".

All these statements, earlier brushed off as mere jabs at the royal family, are now being seen as reasonable with the alleged manipulation by the royals in the photoshop controversy.

Prince Harry's past interviews appear to coincide with the narrative fans now hold regarding the royal family. The alleged manipulation of royal photographs and the various speculations about Kate Middleton all seem to resonate with Prince Harry’s past disclosures, according to fans. And those who have stood by the Sussexes sought validation on X, formerly Twitter, finding comfort in the idea that they have likely chosen the right side. 

Those who initially doubted the Prince now began to piece things together.

A number of faithful supporters of the Duke expressed how they had always believed that the 39-year-old was not attacking the royal family, but rather sharing his own experiences.

A source close to Prince Harry recently revealed that the author of Spare does not perceive any scandal within the royal family regarding Kate Middleton’s disappearance. However, judging by the sentiments of fans, it appears they have already chosen to believe in this narrative.
