“Fans are the ones that matter”- Martin Lawrence Drops Mic on Will Smith Starrer ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ Critics

The Bad Boys, Will Smith, and Martin Lawrence swooped in the box office this summer to literally ride or die, but thankfully it was the former without a tinge of skepticism. Although the cop duo has delivered blockbusters in the previous films as well, Bad Boys: Ride or Die was the one that made every lineup of release matter henceforth, having revived a deadbeat box office situation. However, with that jaw-dropping success, glory was not all that was in the fate of the superstars since the shadow of critics was always lurking in the corners.

Lawrence, however, knows what matters to him as an artist and critics may not be the ones he is ready to lose his sleep for.

TMZ recently caught up with Bad Boys star, not Will Smith but Martin Lawrence, who did not hold back when asked about the wild split between fans and critics on the franchise. Keeping it real, Lawrence said, “fans are the ones that matter.” While he gave critics their props, acknowledging that they are entitled to their opinions, if he had to choose sides, he is Team Fans all the way.

Lawrence broke it down with two simple reasons why fans are the real MVPs. First, they are the ones shelling out the cash that turned Bad Boys into a billion-dollar beast. And second, in the world of streaming, it is the fans who have got the power to make or break a project. However, that was not all. To add a cherry to the top, when the reporter slyly asked about a possible fifth movie, Lawrence kept it cool with a “you know, so.”

After Bad Boys: Ride or Die blew up the box office with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence at the wheel, fans could not help but wonder if they were getting another wild ride with the duo. Well, it seems Jerry Bruckheimer is not hitting the brakes anytime soon since that thought made the rounds well before the fans could voice their questions. In a June chat with Deadline, he spilled that talks for a fifth movie are already in motion.

Back then, Bruckheimer hinted that while the team had started chatting about it, they were waiting to see how the movie performed at the box office before making any big moves. But judging by how it raked in cash both in theaters and on streaming, it is looking pretty likely that Hollywood’s favorite baddies will be back for more action. And given Lawrence has already sided with Team Fans, how could they not?
