“Family first”- Ryan Gosling Opens Up About the North Star That Serves as His Decision-Making Compass
Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have made it a point to support each other while keeping their family’s private life under wraps. While the couple has occasionally shared anecdotes about parenting, they have consistently kept their romantic relationship out of the public eye. But that does not mean their genuine love for each other, and the family they have built, do not peek through. Recently, Gosling, yet again, showed how much his family means to him.
The Barbie actor opened up about how his family plays the role of his North Star, steering him in every decision he makes.

Ryan Gosling was recently featured on the cover of Men’s Health where he was asked if he has a motto in life or a North star that steers his ship. Gosling explained he does not have a motto per se, but when he needs to decide something, he thinks about his "deathbed". He believes focusing on what matters most at the end of life guides him to make good choices. And for him, "it always comes back to family first”, as stated by the actor.
He added, “When it comes to Eva and the girls, they come first". Later in the conversation, Gosling was questioned about his heroes, and without delay, he named his wife. And the star was not fibbing when he called his family his guiding star, because it was, in fact, his family who inspired Gosling to take a role in the 2023 blockbuster, a decision that also earned him an Academy Award nomination.
Gosling has mentioned before that his daughters served as a major inspiration for his role as Ken in the Barbie movie.

Gosling's kids' love for Barbie dolls inspired him to join Greta Gerwig's project as a way to create something special for them. His daughters were also the driving force behind Gosling's heart-stopping Oscar performance. That said, it is clear that leaning on his family's guidance has been a positive force in the actor's life.
