The movie was supposed to be directed by Marc Webb. However, a representative for Sydney Sweeney has stated to Discussing Film that the actress will not be a part of the film Day Drinker alongside Johnny Depp, despite all the reports. The surge of false information surrounding Sweeney has indeed become a major issue in celebrity gossip and entertainment. 

Especially, with the rapid rise of social media, rumors and misinformation can now spread like wildfire, taking on lives of their own in no time. Just earlier this month, the actress made an appearance on Saturday Night Live to put an end to rumors about her dating life. 

Sydney Sweeney brought some humor to the stage by addressing rumors surrounding her and co-star Glen Powell. Referring to the rumor as the "craziest" she has heard so far, Sweeney revealed, “That's obviously not true”. The actress further explained that she and her fiancé produced the movie together, and he was present for the entire shoot. Laughing off the affair gossip, she requested the camera crew to pan to her fiancé, but funnily enough, Powell, seated in the audience, appeared on screen instead. 

Powell played along with the joke with a look of surprise. "No, that's not my fiancé. He's in my dressing room,” said the 26-year-old, as the audience cheered them on. With that, she officially launched into the show. However, that brief skit and clarification highlighted just how wild the rumor mill can become at times.
