Exciting News for 'Dexter: Resurrection' Fans As 2 Major Updates Surface
Fans are about to revisit the dark and twisted world of Dexter Morgan again. The highly awaited spin-off, Dexter: Resurrection, came as a pleasant surprise during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con last July. Since then, speculation about the project has been rampant among fans. And alongside familiar faces like James Remar, Jack Alcott, and David Zayas, a fresh addition to the cast has been recently revealed too.
This cast addition came right on the heels of a major production update — which was much needed amid the delays in the ongoing spin-off.

Michael C. Hall is back as Dexter Morgan in Dexter: Resurrection, the upcoming spin-off. The actor recently shared a video on social media, revealing that production for the project has officially begun. Hall expressed his excitement to dive into "another thrill ride" with fans as filming kicks off. Additionally, Uma Thurman has reportedly been offered a role in the spin-off too, portraying a fixer for Dinklage's character.
There has, however, not been any confirmation about Thurman. Dexter: Resurrection might premiere later this year, likely in the fall or winter. It will pick up where the previous revival, Dexter: New Blood, left off— with Dexter’s secret exposed and his fate sealed by his son. However, despite the excitement, there is still some disappointment. Four episodes from the first season of Dexter: Original Sin are yet to be released.
It seems fans will have to wait a bit longer to see how Dexter wriggles out of his latest dilemma, as there is not a new episode this week.
Why Dexter: Original Sin is taking so much time?
Dexter: Original Sin is taking a short mid-season break before returning with new episodes. On December 20, Paramount-owned Showtime released a special two-episode drop, meaning both episodes 2 and 3 were available on the same day. It seems the streamer is reshuffling the schedule to extend the season into February. The finale will now air on February 14, coinciding with the return of another show, Yellowjackets.

Dexter: New Blood premiered alongside the first season of Yellowjackets, both drawing strong viewership for Paramount/Showtime. With this staggered release, the streamer is clearly aiming to keep fans engaged across both shows. From a business perspective, this approach makes sense, given the shared fan base. And with the next episodes and the following season, fan should get a clearer idea of the franchise too.
