Every 'SNL' Movie Guy's Prediction for Oscars 2025 That Has Us Rolling on The Floor

Everything and everyone involved in the showbiz right now is pooling in their opinions on who the Oscars' baggers are going to be this season, but of course, in all good spirit. The SNL cast however, put their own twist to it. Being two of the largest trade-markers of traditions out in the west, the Oscars predictions presented as a sketch comedy might be the only thing needed to lift our spirits up for the red carpet accolade being just around the corner.

Having a history of plotting the most hilarious string of events to match each narrative, just as tediously as the character of 'the movie guy', could, by any chance, be spewing some truth, however?

Getting into it from the first second, the Movie Guy commences by stating the obvious, the Oscars, as ever, "is a tight race!". Speed-racing through the nominations, hopping from Anora and claiming to not have seen that and then to A Complete Unknown, which happens to also be complete unknown to the guest Movie Guy with the only things given away being Timothée Chalamet's acting being reduced to a Bob Dylan impersonation, the SNL did not hesitate in biting any Oscar Best Picture nominee's tail.

Jumping from a thirty-second SpongeBob Squarepants interval to a movie that is obviously about the Pope (Conclave), the only weird thing being that Marcello Hernández's Movie Guy had not seen this one either, (which ended up reminding him of his love for Popeye). When the Movie Guy had finally seemed like I'm Still Here might have gotten him serious, it turns out it was only the story of the guy that "had not left quite yet, he is still here." Finally landing on to the Brutalist, a movie about an architect who survives the concentration camps, only to build a pineapple shaped house for SpongeBob under the sea. Tying down by saying "I don't know! It could be 'wicked'!," marking for the only real pun in the entirety of the three minutes.

Oscars 2025 Red Carpet: Time, Venue, and Who All Are Coming?

With there being several versions of the Oscars predictions circulating around town, there surely is a tough competition for the potential winner, but not because of reasons one might generally assume.

Shift in the matrix: the Oscars' snubby nature surfacing this season

The 2025 Oscars are facing some heavy criticism come its 97th year, with many questioning the integrity of the awards, with actors trying to shortcut paving their way up the stage and the alarmingly low percentage of diversity in the nominations for the Best Pictures and other accolades. Observers have concluded the Oscars to be prioritizing strategy over artistry, where films as deserving as Anora are overlooked, movies such as the Brutalist being accused of using AI-aided filmography, completely bouncing of the essence of the competition , and actors with harmful ideologies being promoted on humungous platforms such as this.

While the SNL once again moving ahead with its age old trick of guffawing at all that is a headline, the Movie Guy Marcello may have in his overbearing attempt to discard every Nominee made a huge point; for audiences to not take the awards as seriously as they have up until now. With his nonchalance as he keeps shifting the steering wheel to his favorite cartoons instead of actually talking about the movies at hand and in question for the Oscars, SNL may have just given the unofficial mastermind of snubbing, a snub of its own.
