Even After Earning More Than $300,000 for ‘Man of Steel’, Henry Cavill Wanted to Redo This One Thing
DC fans have forever touted Henry Cavill in Man of Steel to be one of the most flawless portrayals of Superman. The British actor’s nuanced performance added layers to the iconic caped character, capturing the essence of a conflicted hero discovering his purpose. His hard-earned buff physique mirrored the alien savior’s stoic strength while his internal conflict simmered to the surface in stolen glances and furrowed brows. Despite emoting his character’s loneliness and triumphs with such gusto, Cavill felt he messed up one scene with a special character.
He wished to redo this moment, even though nobody may have noticed this tiny aspect.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2021, Cavill was asked about a decision in his career he regretted. After hesitating at first, the 40-year-old confessed that one scene “at the end of Man of Steel” irked him. Apparently, he felt that the way he “smiled” at his adoptive mother, Martha Kent during it was “irritating”. He remarked that he questions himself as to “why” he chose to smile that way “every time” he re-watches the 2013 flick!
Well, he claimed he would do it “differently” if given a chance because that was “not how” he usually smiled. Considering that fans have never made comments about the seemingly insignificant detail, it would appear that the Argylle actor is certainly his own biggest critic. The fact that he nit-picked the minute moment as a regret just goes to show his dedication to delivering his roles with perfection.
Besides divulging this regret, Cavill also spilled the beans on another aspect of his career.

In the aforementioned interview, Cavill also revealed something about himself that made him wish to turn back time. He felt that he had always been “very trusting and open”, however, these traits did not help. He realized later that being “more business savvy and smart” would have served him better since everybody in Tinseltown only looks out for themselves. He felt if he had a “better business mentor” things may have turned out differently.
When speaking of Cavill’s career, it is difficult not to notice the amount of projects he has been axed from. Even though Zack Snyder called him the “greatest Superman ever“ he was removed from the role. Later, he had to let go of his part in Netflix’s The Witcher series as well. Through his comments, The Tudors actor seems to be implying that he may have been taken advantage of due to his somewhat naive nature!
