Fans all over the world might have had their heart in their throats when news dropped that HBO's Euphoria could be no more. With the second season ending in 2022, they have been waiting two years for the next part of the story, but they might never get it. Although fans may no longer be seeing Rue, Cassie Howard, Nate Jacobs, and the rest of the characters, here is why it might not be the worst idea to scrap the series.

Pro 1: No more Euphoria controversies

Right since Euphoria began back in 2019, there have been controversies about its storylines and depictions of teenagers. However, after the cancellation of Sam Levinson's Idol, the questions started pouring in. After all, with one of the creator's shows being deemed too sexual and graphic for most viewers, people began questioning everything about the show.

With the Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney starrer potentially not making its way back for a third season, the series could avoid being put in the spotlight for wild storylines. After all, with the second season ending on a sad note with the murder of Fezco's younger brother Ash in a police shootout, the next season could have had a lot of hard questions to answer.

Apart from just problems with the Euphoria storyline, there were also problems that the cast had faced with their character's depiction and growth.

Pro 2: No Euphoria without the original cast

In 2022, months after the second season of Euphoria was released, it was revealed Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat Hernandez, would not be returning to the show for the third installment. Although the star had claimed that she had grown weary of playing the same character for 4 years, there were rumors that it was actually something much bigger that forced her to drop out from the show.

It was claimed that Ferreira had gotten into an argument with the director of the show, Sam Levinson, about her character, which led to a lot of tension on set. Neither the 39-year-old nor the actress confirmed the feud. However, fans could not help but see a connection. With the series rumored to be canceled, fans will not be left wondering what happened to beloved characters like Kat and more.

Pro 3: Euphoria stars can focus on broadening their horizons

Since Euphoria came out, its entire cast has received major love from fans all over the world. With Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, and even Jacob Elordi all wrapped up in new projects, they might not have the time to come back to a show where they depicted high school students. Apart from that, even if the stars were to make their way back to the show, it might not sit right after the success of Dune, Anyone But You, and Saltburn.

With Sweeney, Zendaya and Elordi having their schedules packed with upcoming projects for the current year, the cancellation of Euphoria could be seen as a blessing in disguise for the beloved cast of the show.

The drawbacks of Sam Levinson’s Euphoria being cancelled

There might be quite a few valid reasons for Euphoria to come to an end without its third season. However, there are also some arguments for why the show should continue. Although it might not be everyone's favorite show, there can be no denying that the drama series has built a massive fan following over the last five years

Con 1: No conclusion for Euphoria's characters

Over the years, fans have built quite a connection with the Euphoria cast as well as their characters. While Zendaya's character, Rue, has stayed pretty much the same throughout the show, the second season saw her drug abuse being taken to a new level. Although the character might seem like a lost cause, fans saw massive developments unfold for other characters like Sydney Sweeney's Cassie Howard and her on-screen sister, Lexi Howard, played by Maude Apatow.

With Sweeney exploring the darker parts of her character after breaking her best friend's trust to be with Jacob Elordi's Nate Jacobs, the character was set to see a redemption arc in the next season. Although her friendship with Alexa Demie's Maddy might be shattered, the potential cancellation of the series could result in fans missing out on the stories of other cast members.

‘Euphoria’ Season 3: Sydney Sweeney Hints at a Major Update for the Zendaya-Led Drama

Apart from losing out on finding out more about the Euphoria stars, losing the show could also impact how the world views the rise of drug addiction and more.

Con 2: No more true depictions of the reality of drug abuse and more

Euphoria might be a rather controversial show. However, that has not taken away from the fact that it shows real-life problems in ways people have not seen on screen before. With drug addiction, eating disorders and more plaguing the world, the show has shone an all-too-real light on the behind-the-scenes ongoings of some American teenagers and more.

Apart from that, the show has also offered fresh and interesting takes on the matter and even given viewers ways to reach out for help if they have been privately or publicly struggling with such kinds of problems. With helplines and rehab center numbers, Euphoria ensured their fans had a means of reaching out to get the help they needed.

Over the years, HBO has given the world many great shows. However, only Game of Thrones, and Euphoria managed to be their biggest, most popular ones. Although the fantasy drama ran into some disappointment at the end of its last season in  2019, Sam Levinson's series ended up filling the spot for some fans. With the show bringing an average of 16 million views per episode for its last season, the streamer could see significant losses if they were to scrap the show.

While it might not be the best decision for the streaming platform, they could end up losing the show soon. Although fans might have to wait for confirmation about the future of the show, the removal of Euphoria could bring in another surprising addition to the streaming platform.
