No teen show has generated as much conversation in the last decade as Euphoria. The HBO series has collected a wealth of accolades, critical acclaim, and a faithful fan base since its inception in 2019. Among its standout cast is Sydney Sweeney, who played Cassie Howard- a teenager who, often recklessly, tries to pull the strings of the boys within her reach. As the excitement for season 3 continues to build, Sydney Sweeney shared her thoughts on the direction she hopes her character will follow in the upcoming season. 

Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO programming, announced earlier this year that Euphoria season 3 will begin production in January 2025, which will be almost exactly three years after the premiere of the previous season. As Sydney Sweeney recently sat down for an interview with PEOPLE, she dropped more hints about what lies ahead for Euphoria season 3. "I'm very excited to jump back into Cassie," said the actress. She then pointed out the "crazy" in Cassie and shared a desire for her character to take things up a notch this time. 

"I love crazy Cassie, so the crazier, the better for me," said Sweeney. She, however, mentioned to PEOPLE that she does not have any new tidbits to share with fans now that production is set to begin in January. The delays for Euphoria season 3 have been significant, to say the least. And the Hollywood strikes did not help the hold-ups either. Nonetheless, the third season is finally gaining momentum, and going by reports, the entire main cast will be returning. The Immaculate actress shared her excitement about the same in an earlier interview.

In March, Sweeney teased that season 3 would take viewers by surprise, as it will be unlike anything they have seen before in the franchise. 

Sydney Sweeney has always considered her Euphoria castmates a "family," because it is the show that birthed her as Hollywood’s new sensation. During a conversation with GQ, the actress shared that she was very thrilled to reunite with her on-screen "family" as production for season three got underway. While she was quite tight-lipped about the specifics of season 3, the 26-year-old did tease what fans should expect. 

“People will be really amazed with what season three becomes,” said Sweeney. She also pointed to a shift in the third installment compared to the previous two seasons. This shift has already been hinted at by the makers, and it was also precisely why Euphoria season 3 took so long to get into filming. Even though it is certain that production has begun on the third installment, it is still up in the air when it will finally hit the small screens.
