‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Hit With A Heartbreaking Update Just Days After Production Finally Began

After Gossip Girl in the 2000s, Euphoria has taken its position as one of the grittiest teen dramas of the millennia, at least for now. Centering around the lives of troubled adolescents who juggle themselves between high school and partying (but not just.), the show first hit the screens in June 2019, and immediately collected a rave around itself, enchanting the audience with dreamlike visuals as we followed Rue navigating life post-rehab, but not in the most ideal of ways. With a mystifying first impression, the audience was left with the want to know more about these star teens and their anxiety-ridden lives, trying their best to wait patiently in the meantime.

After wrapping up the long-due season 2 back in February 2022, a longer-due season 3’s production underway was announced via the show's official Instagram. And while the audience did leave a breath of relief they had been holding for all this time, they were left sighing wistfully by the end of the news, bittersweet as it had been.

The ‘Euphoria’ has to wear off, someday

While whispers of a season 3 had already been flying the air right after the wrap-up of the second season of the show, it was the infamously known, painstakingly remarkable production process that was more worrying to the audience. Now that the filming finally began for the upcoming season, HBO's Head of Drama, Francesca Orsi, revealed to Deadline that this season just might be the final season for Euphoria.

Having been pushed back several times due to the outbreak of the pandemic right after the show's premiere season, with a second season finally being released on January 9, 2022. Production for the third season had been suffering a similar status of stagnation, initially set to begin filming at the beginning of 2024, even rumored to have been canceled for a while. While the finale of the show has now, at last, started filming, newer episodes of the Emmy-winning show, however, are probably not going to hit screens anytime before the second half of 2025, or the beginning of 2026.

As is with the psychologically heavy drama, no matter how scrutinized its premise gets, one cannot help but be intrigued by its artful depiction of teenage misery, the dramatic liminality of the age, and the consequences of being impressionable, and intrigued may one remain with the promises that come with the third season of the HBO production.

Sniffing the (details) third line to Euphoria

It is speculated that the third installment of the show will pick off from where the last season had left, with Rue beginning to see through the end of the tunnel and going about making amends with the people she had strained her relationships with. The finale of season two ended with a mirror being thrown at Cassie by her sister up on stage to which she reacts in a very Cassie-esque manner, which has been the point that had brought together a tie down for the season, bringing in character Nate and Maddy into the scene as well, as well as a saddening character loss by the end of the final episode.

The beloved faces of the actors of Euphoria are, however, not something the audience has been made to suffer in the absence of. With Zendaya, Sydney Sweeny, and Jacob Elordi, appearing in several projects spanning the years between the show’s progressively lengthier in-the-making.
