After almost 70 years, the grand ceremony of crowning the new monarch is taking place at Westminster Abbey. Arrangements have been made, invitations sent, and British royals around the continent are flying to London on the 6th of May to witness his majesty, King Charles III’s coronation. However, one of the very close relatives- his younger daughter-in-law- Meghan Markle will not be gracing the ceremony with her presence.

Well, she has her not-so-unknown reasons. Firstly, her and Prince Harry’s son, Prince Archie’s birthday, fall on the same date as that of the coronation; and secondly, given the hiatus that caused and followed Megxit, she perhaps deems it appropriate not to attend it. And it seems like Americans back the Duchess on the same. According to a recent poll by Newsweek, out of 1500 participants, only 12% of Americans oppose her decision while 42% approve of it.

Notably, out of the 42 percent, 16% of the participants strongly approve of her plan whereas 9% said they do not care. There are also 37% of people who neither approved nor disapproved. Furthermore, the polling also suggested that most of those who side with the re-emerging American actress are Genz. Also, Meghan Markle is not the only one to stay back at her California home. President Joe Biden will also not attend King Charles’s big day.

Netizens also have a say on Prince Harry’s visit and whether King Charles should visit his son’s family in California.

Apart from Meghan Markle, Americans also vote for Prince Harry and King Charles

The outlet also put up a poll for Prince Harry’s stay in London and if King Charles should visit California. While approximately 36% of participants said they do not care about any of the father and son’s businesses, 30 percent felt the Duke of Sussex should spend more time in his motherland. Whereas, 3% more than these believes that King Charles fly to California to pay a visit to the Sussexes and his grandchildren. Furthermore, 16% felt neither Prince Harry should stay back in the U.K. nor King Charles need to visit his son’s home.

These polls come after a plethora of allegations the Prince has made against the monarchy in the past years. Moreover, despite the citizens’ wishes, it is reported that Prince Harry will attend the ceremony for only two hours.
