Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a feathered splash in 2021 by introducing their rescue chickens to the world. Within the lush 7.5 acres of their Montecito abode, Archie’s Chick Inn serves as a cozy haven for their small flock. The coop reflects the couple’s love for animals and has been a true joy in their lives for years. Recently, their feathered family grew as they welcomed a new member, Sinkie, a friend in need from the coop of their good neighbor Ellen DeGeneres. 

To let everyone in on the news, Ellen DeGeneres hopped onto social media, seeking suggestions for a royal moniker for the chicken.

Taking to social media, the 65-year-old talk show host shared that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had taken her chicken, Sinkie, under their royal wings. Ellen DeGeneres disclosed that her chicken, Sinkie, experienced bullying from other rescue chickens at their Montecito estate, shared with her wife, Portia de Rossi. Forced to move Sinkie, who had recently recovered from a broken fibula bone, DeGeneres happily revealed that everything fell into place as the Sussexes welcomed the bird into their care. 

“Not sure yet what her royal title will be“, wrote the talk show host. Sinkie has become a regular feature on DeGeneres’s Instagram. On December 21, she shared that Sinkie had suffered a broken fibula and needed a few weeks of recovery at a clinic. Luckily, the chicken has now found a wonderful home. Since the Sussexes’ move to California in 2020, they have welcomed various farm animals and have ample space for more. In the infamous 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, the royal couple offered a peek into their chicken coop.

They not only talked about their love for animals but also gave fans a tour of Archie’s Chick Inn.

The interview kicked off in a neutral setting, but the couple later escorted Oprah Winfrey to their nearby residence. The Sussexes then gave the cameras a quick tour of their chicken coop. Eager to showcase their rescued birds and coop, the royal couple and Oprah Winfrey engaged in a little feathered spectacle. This segment of the interview took place at a friend’s house, separated from the rest of the shoot. 

Although their expansive 19,000 square-foot house stayed behind closed doors, Markle and the Prince gladly showcased the cozy abode that their feathered companions call home. Meghan, the one who brought her rescued beagle into the family with Prince Harry, told Winfrey, “I just love rescuing”. They added a black lab named Pula to their family as well, in 2018. In the interview, Prince Harry happily said, “Our family is complete”, with a sister for Prince Archie on the way.
