The trajectory of attaining “financially independent” lives that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle embarked upon was one marked by milestones that effectively distanced them from Buckingham Palace. The estranged couple’s quest to stay rooted in pop culture called for them to start staying relevant. While thanks to their bombshell revelations and media deals, they often eke out mentions, their own PR needs a more solid approach. Further, vocally articulate, she should have a platform to voice her independent views and thoughts.

A question thus arises, does the former Suits actress command a social media presence? Interestingly, the answer finds itself shrouded in mystery.

Meghan Markle may or may not have an Instagram account

The 42-year-old Duchess of Sussex doesn’t have much of a social media presence. The last time she had a platform to express her thoughts was her Spotify podcast Archetypes and before that her former blog The Tig, which faced the axe following her tying the knot to Prince Harry in 2018. At the time of writing, neither of the Sussexes owns a social media platform. However, an account, @sussexroyal on Instagram, once handled public relations on their joint behalf while the couple were still in the royal fold.

Interestingly, there also exists another account, @meghan, also named simply as meghan, believed to be one of the Duchess’ accounts. The profile with no bio or posts simply has the profile picture of pink blossomed flowers. For such an account to boast 127 thousand plus followers including some of her close friends, is a suspicion that has led many to believe that it is indeed Meghan Markle’s dormant Instagram accounts created on the backs of her Archetypes podcast.

On the other side of the slate, a personal social media presence comes about more than necessary as the former actress looks headed for more success.

The call for Meghan Markle to have her own Instagram account comes after recent developments highlight an uptick in her popularity. The Duchess of Sussex was recently called suited to take on Oprah Winfrey. There were also rumors of an Audible deal after the Spotify one fell through. Meghan Markle also finds mention for her talks on women’s empowerment and other global issues.

Her recent appearances at various A-list entertainment events may also be an indication of a popularity surge on the cards. Additionally, thanks to the duo’s recent show of strength at the Invictus Games in Germany, fans have taken a likening to their documentaries. Riding on the backs of a $100 million strong Netflix deal, success may just be knocking at their doors.
