Will Smith certainly is the most versatile actor Hollywood can ever produce. From being a successful rapper to being one of the most entertaining actors, he has established himself as a cult classic. Furthermore, the 54-year-old is so profound in his work that seldom do we hear him copying or even repeating the same style or even dialogue delivery in his works.

But, as we all know, exceptions are always there, and Will Smith’s case is nothing different. Even though he has the ability to transition between the genres flawlessly and keep the audience captivated with his absolutely charismatic personality, two of his most infamous dramas, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and I Am Legend, share the same joke.

Yes! You heard it right. The Emancipation actor apparently makes the same joke both in his 1990 sitcom, and the 2007 post-apocalyptic thriller. And even though the two films are two different ends of the pole, he pulled the joke just right. Notably, at the center of it stands Bob Marley! In both Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and I Am Legend Smith apparently sings Marley’s “I Shot the Sheriff” in a truly high-pitched voice.

And even though the context and situation in both films are very different, it feels perfectly right when he sings it out loud. Now, just in case you need to brush up on your memory, here is when Smith brings about this joke in both movies.

While in his 1990 sitcom, he apparently sings it in episode 20 of season 1 when the Banks house is in sheer panic, as it expects a guest who is none other than Geoffrey’s old boss Lord Fowler. Now as Geoffery prepares the house for his arrival, The Pursuit of Happyness actor thrusts into the kitchen singing these lyrics in a Rastafarian outfit.

Whereas, in I Am Legend, this song has a bit of different significance. When Anna comes across Smith’s on-screen daughter’s picture while looking around his house, he informs her that her name is Marley, after Bob Marley. However, when Robert (his character) is unable to recognize her, Will Smith once again sings the same song in the same pitch, but all in vain. Notably, even though the two projects were very different from each other, the joke somehow works perfectly fine in both of them.
