It is no secret that Prince Harry struggled with royal life. Be it strict rules and regulations or rivalry with counterparts, life in the UK was not smooth for him or his wife, Meghan Markle. However, despite the challenges, he reportedly had a good relationship with his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, who was the only senior royal he got along with.
The bond between the Queen and Prince Harry was strong, and she was often seen as a source of comfort and guidance for him amidst the chaos of royal life. However, not everything was smooth sailing between the two, and there were likely moments of tension and disagreement.

A recent documentary Harry – The Lost Prince by Ulrike Grunewald has unveiled that Prince Harry had sought a compromise, aiming to be "half in and half out" of the monarchy. However, Queen Elizabeth II firmly rejected this proposal, citing concerns over the potential exploitation of his royal position for personal financial gain.

According to royal author Angela Levin, Prince Harry was left deeply disappointed by the strict terms imposed by the royal family. The Duke of Sussex had reportedly envisioned a more flexible arrangement, allowing him and Markle to balance their royal duties with personal pursuits. The Queen's refusal to accommodate this request is said to have contributed significantly to the couple's decision to step back from their royal roles.
Despite it all, the Queen still remained one of the most revered elders Prince Harry looked up to, as evident from most of his accounts.
Prince Harry continues to love his grandparents regardless
As reports suggest, Prince Harry was particularly close to his grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. He often spoke fondly of them, praising Prince Philip's sense of humor and the Queen's leadership. The Duke of Sussex cherished the bond he shared with his grandparents, who played a significant role in his life.

In 2021, Prince Harry also added that he shared a "special relationship" with the Queen and considered both his grandparents to be the closest members of his family. Prince Harry's affection for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip was evident in his words and actions, showcasing the importance of their relationship in his life. In fact, her funeral ceremony remains the only ceremony that saw the Sussex couple back on UK soil in recent times.
