Matthew Perry agreed to Julia Roberts’ unusual demands

In his memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, Matthew Perry talked about how Julia Robets agreed to do a cameo on Friends. He recalled in the book that the producers offered her the post-Super Bowl episode in season 2. The Mystic Pizza star, however, demanded she would only join if they gave her a scene with Perry. “Let me say that again — she would only do the show if she could be in my story line. But first, I had to woo her,” revealed the actor.

So the Emmy-nominated star sent Roberts three dozen roses with a note that said: “The only thing more exciting than the prospect of you doing the show is that I finally have an excuse to send you flowers.” However, this gesture was not enough to persuade the Pretty Woman star, and she responded with another demand from the actor.

This time she asked him to explain “quantum physics” to make her agree to appear on the show. Perry did not back down and went all the way to fulfill her request and convince her.

Friends star’s commitment took Julia Roberts by surprise

Matthew Perry also revealed in the memoir that he took a crash course to learn the formulas. Then he submitted a lengthy paper explaining “paper all about wave-particle duality and the uncertainty principle and entanglement”. His unwavering commitment moved Roberts and not only did she agree to the cameo, but the two found good friends in one another.

This friendship soon transformed into a relationship, and they dated for some time. In the book, Perry confessed his insecurities about dating one of the world’s most esteemed stars became a major obstacle. However, maybe it was this kindness of Perry that the actress recently mourned Perry’s sudden demise with “all good thoughts and feelings.”
